Homage Platter

This wheel-thrown platter creates a shrine-like niche for a pit-fired vessel paying homage to the importance of the vessel to humankind. Purposefully taking the vessel out of its utilitarian context and thrusting it into a place of honor as an almost two dimensional fine art form is the author’s statement of a long over-due canonization of vessel making as fine art.
